Stan Komperda - Project Development 

Stan comes from the environmental sector with seventeen years of project management experience where he helped re-mediate landfills and identify and oversee industrial and agrichemical site cleanups. In addition, he has over six years of wind farm project development experience from initial project inception, fatal flaw study, transmission evaluation and landowner outreach through successful permitting and pre-construction readiness.

Christopher Nickell - Site Establishment 

Chris holds a bachelors degree in Environmental Biology and came to the wind industry after 15 years at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). As a project manager at the IEPA in the Bureau of Land, Chris gained experience working on everything from corner gas station cleanups to multi million dollar landfill remediations. Upon coming to our company at the end of 2008, Chris has focused on landowner relations, communications with local bodies of government, public outreach and permitting.

Mike Cavanaugh - Land Control Specialist & Administration

Mike holds a bachelors of science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois- Springfield and has come to AWEM from the State of Illinois’ Central Management Services. While at the State, Mike was involved in many areas of Green Government. He managed the State’s recycling program, helped develop an electronic document management storage program, worked with Federal Surplus Property, and served on the Governor’s Green Governments Coordinating Council. Mike’s role at AWEM is primarily land acquisition for overhead transmission but he has been actively involved in many other aspects of project development as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the office.
